Aerial Tutorials
Join Miriam at one of her many aerial tutorials on offer and learn how to take to the air in style and land with grace. Defy gravity with our DRAGONfly. Suspended Animation in the air is one of her favourite places to be!

Aerial Hoop
The Aerial hoop is a fantastic piece of kit suspended in the air where you can perform many moves and beautiful transitional pieces as a solo participant or with a partner. The Aerial hoop can be used for conditioning as well as learning beats: turns and twists. You can perform moves below the bar: within the hoop: above the bar and even off the strops. You may request your class to be on static or spinning hoop.

Prerequisite Aerial hoops are rigged above the floor: it is important that an individual understands that they must be able to invert onto the bottom bar in order to be able to perform moves within the hoop. If you are unsure if you can manage this Miriam suggests trying a pole class first since the pole is connected to both the ceiling and the floor – it is essentially a static object. If you are unable to invert at pole there are many other moves you can do until you have built your strength up and can therefore progress to other aerial arts classes.

Private 1-2-1 These are suitable for everyone and are great as an introduction to hoop or as a top up if you are working on something more specific. Suitable for all levels but please note the prerequisite above.
Private Group Class – Group private sessions allow you to have an independent class with groups of friends and/or family while spreading the cost. We aid competitor entrants as well as tutoring those who wish to piece together a routine for exhibitions and show cases. These sessions are suitable for all levels of participants but please note the prerequisite above. Recommended attendance at aerial hoop class or equivalent for 12 weeks: or at instructor’s discretion. Participants must be able to lift their own body weight.

Aerial Silks
One of the most visually stunning and most physically demanding of the aerial arts: Silks require a high degree of strength and co-ordination as you climb: drop: lift: rotate: swing: suspend and wrap yourself in the air. Comprising of two pieces of long hanging fabric rigged from a rescue eight: the material extends from the ceiling to the floor. Silks are fantastic to use for conditioning the body: and as they are amongst the most difficult they present you with one of the biggest challenges as you control the fabric and your body, manipulating the material as you spiral and twist.

Prerequisites: Aerial Silks are physically very demanding: Miriam recommends that you should be able to achieve one full pull up as a minimum requirement before attending her silks sessions, albeit the initial introductory moves can be performed on/near the floor to give participants a basic understanding of the silks. If you would like some advice or guidance if these tutorials are suitable for you then please use the Catch DRAGONfly contact form here.

Specific Aerial Silks Classes: 1-2-1 –You will have as much attention lavished on you as there is silks material – Lots! Great for an introduction to Silks or as a top up if you are working on something more specific. Suitable for all levels but please note the prerequisite above.

Private Group Class – Group private sessions allow you to have an independent class with groups of friends and/or family while spreading the cost. Miriam requires a minimum of 4 people to run this session. For numbers below this but more than an individuals’ session please use the Catch DRAGONfly contact form here.

Silks Conditioning – this is class designed to give you an increased cardio workout that keeps you working through many strength based moves and is designed to target all major muscles groups such as upper and lower abs: biceps and triceps. You will also target lots of smaller muscles groups – especially those in your hands, as you develop grip strength. Recommended attendance at Silks class for 12 weeks: or at your instructor’s discretion. Participants must be able to lift their own body weight.

Flexibility Tutorials

Private 1-2-1 Tutorial: Class Length: 1 Hour: £40 per head
Private (2- 3 persons) Tutorial: Class Length: 1 Hour: £25 per head
Private (4 persons and more) Group Tutorial: Class Length: 1 Hour: £20 per head

Fighting off the stereotype that stretching is boring and not the most enjoyable Miriam has recently developed a brand new tutorial devoted to making you bendier, happier and relaxed. There are various quirks and the use of different pieces of equipment along the way. Enjoy various techniques on your journey to new founded flexibility.

Flexibility is paramount for everyday life from assisting with work and play; advantageous whilst working out and also for the long term care and prevention of injury to your body in the future. Whether you have a goal in mind specifically relating to stretching or wish to simply obtain more overall flexibility Miriam can advise you on techniques you can use at home to maintain the flexibility you will have improved upon throughout the tutorial.

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites to these classes and are also suitable for those who have no pole or aerial experience. Participants can be any age; shape and size and don’t worry if you feel like the least flexible person in the world! Our DRAGONfly loves a challenge and you will soon be enjoying your new found suppleness.

Full Body Stretch - Private & Group Tutorial Available: Suitable for everyone this is designed to increase overall body flexibility. Sessions include a range of Static; Dynamic and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation Stretches (PNF for short). Miriam tests your flexibility at the start and end of each session and advises regular attendees to keep a record of their results to see how far (literally!) they have come. The class improves flexibility and strength within muscles; ligaments; and tendons giving you increased joint mobility.

Specific Stretch Development - Private & Group Tutorial Available: Looking to develop splits? Be it box or scissor splits our flexibility sessions will aid you on your way. It is important to remember that to achieve the splits (or other manoeuvres such as back splits; crabs; etc.) you must work through a range of different muscle groups collectively. It should also be noted Miriam will endeavour to help you achieve your specific goals but that some people may never obtain particular manoeuvres due to the mechanics of the body. For example; the majority of people are physically capable of achieving scissors splits but box splits may in some individual cases never be achieved due to the structure of their hips – the ball and socket joint may inhibit the full range required for box split. Your targets will be worked towards whilst keeping your safety at the forefront.

Pole&Aerial Specific Flexibility - Private &Group Tutorial Available: Some of the moves at Pole&Aerial classes demand a varying degree of flexibility. If you have particular moves in mind that you would like to achieve but lack the flexibility, then Miriam is on hand to assist and guide you with the use of the aerial apparatus.
